The Pantry goes out and about

We had a great day at the Studley Wood Golf Club Christmas Market on Sunday – and the sun was even shining on us, as you can see in the photos below!

Our Piddington Christmas Chutney received a definite thumbs up, as did many other products in the Jim & Jules range, so make sure you come along and try them next Saturday. Remember, this chutney is a limited edition, made from apples grown in Piddington, so come early to secure a jar. Together with a jar of Rosemary’s Jam, this would make a unique Piddington Christmas gift. We’ll be offering pretty gingham baskets too, ready labelled with a gift tag, making it easy for you to make up your own locally sourced mini hamper.

We set up our stall next to Nicola, with her Little Shop of Cheese (who will be coming to The Pantry’s own Christmas Market next Saturday), and just along from Giuliana (Cici-Coco) and Momo (I’m Japanese), both of whom have featured at past Pantry markets, along with Lisa (Polkadot of Winslow) and James (James Soden Natural History Photography). Also there were the ladies of Shalotte, who’ll also be with us next Saturday.

It’s good to be part of such a friendly, talented and hardworking community. Roll on the Christmas Market in Piddington Village Hall, next Saturday, 7 December, and our celebration of one whole year of The Pantry!

Just to let you know that The Portable Pantry will be visiting the Christmas Market at Studley Wood Golf Club on 1 December, between 10 am and 2 pm. We will be selling our ‘make your own’ mini Pantry hampers, toiletry gift sets from Littlecote and Jacobs Field, and the brand new, very seasonal Christmas Spice candles.

There will also be fresh bread from Cornfield, vegetable bags from Bucksum, chutneys and jams from Jim & Jules, including our own Piddington Christmas chutney, made from apples grown in the village, delicious handmade sweet and savoury biscuits from ‘Just Biscuits’,  including some festive flavours, Chiltern flavoured rapeseed oils and a selection of mustards from Shaken Oak.

And you’ll be glad to know that we’ve managed to squeeze in our popular beer stall, so we can offer you a selection of ales from our three closest breweries: Vale Brewery, XT Brewing and Oxfordshire Ales.  A really exciting coup for The Pantry is that this will be the very first outing for Vale Brewery’s brand-new seasonal beer, ‘Good King Senseless’, ‘a classic Christmas Ale – dark, meaty and strong! Traditionally brewed with pale, crystal and chocolate malt and choicest whole cone hops’.

You’ll be able to catch up with some Pantry friends, as Cici-Coco, I am Japanese, The Little Shop of Cheese and St. George’s Gelato will also be coming.  Plus there’ll also be a further 25 stalls of arts and crafts, gifts and jewellery made by local artisans.

So, if you are around, please come along and say hello. The last time we visited Studley Wood, for their Easter Fayre, we had to struggle through the snow to get there, so fingers crossed we don’t have a repeat performance!
